Readymade – 03356

An illustrated hardcover art book featuring the watercolor paintings of Hawaiian artists Marjorie Wong Hee and Hon-Chew Hee. Published by H.C. Hee Studio in 1978, the volume celebrates Hawaiian landscapes, gardens, architecture, and everyday life, reflecting the artists’ distinctive interpretations of nature and their Chinese artistic heritage.

The book includes reproductions of their paintings, biographical material, critical commentary, and a photograph of the artists.

This copy is especially noteworthy for its handwritten dedication to David Lau, dated 1980, and the apparent signatures of both artists.

Selected by Steven Minnaar as a collectible Readymade, this vintage, personally inscribed art book preserves both the artistic achievements of its creators and a tangible connection to their lives.
